Despite Oblivion Remastered releasing only days ago, the modding community has already started addressing the game’s biggest problems — from pacing and performance issues to visual disappointments.


Equipment degradation has also been tackled early. Thanks to configurable mods, players can disable or slow down weapon and armor durability loss, a welcome fix for those annoyed by how quickly items break.


Visually, Oblivion Remastered has drawn criticism for losing the lush green look of the original. Thankfully, the Aliad Re-Shade restores the vibrant greens, while also balancing the overly yellow hue the remaster introduced. This minimal performance cost tweak makes environments feel alive again, much closer to how fans remember the game.


Performance itself is also getting attention. Ultimate Engine Tweaks modifies the game’s .ini file to improve FPS stability and reduce stutter, especially helpful for mid- and low-end PCs. Although it might slightly reduce maximum FPS on high-end systems, the gain in smoothness is well worth it.


One of the major gameplay complaints — the problem of leveled loot — is already being solved too. Mods like Lore Oblivion Items Deleveled ensure all unique items always drop at their maximum stats, even retroactively. However, for a more balanced approach, the Auto-Upgrade Leveled Items mod automatically upgrades loot as you level up, preventing early-game gear from making you overpowered.


An area that needs to be improved upon is leveling speed. The Classic Oblivion Leveling Speed mod returns vanilla XP progression rates, slowing everything back down so that you don't level up (and disrupt enemy variety) quite as fast.


And speaking of enemies, Oblivion Remastered is plagued by bad enemy scaling, making combat repetitive and unbalanced at high levels. The Leveled Creature and Item Diversity mod introduces more variety in the types of enemies even at high levels, adding to challenge as well as immersion.


Difficulty balance was widely denounced as well. Difficulty Slider Fixed eliminated the staggering imbalances between levels of difficulty used during the time of Vanilla Oblivion Remastered. The combat levels are fair without being impossibly hard or ridiculously simple.


Smaller but useful solutions are coming through too. Alternative Sprint improves third-person running animations, travel is improved by Simple Faster Horses and Horse Whistle, and Quest NPCs Run cuts minutes from your playtime by speeding up slow quest followers.


Lastly, Better Inputs brings in the new age of controllers by allowing looting and equipping using E or F keys rather than Enter, solving a massive PC gamer frustration.


Overall, thanks to the modders, Oblivion Remastered is already transforming into a more fun and smooth experience — and this is just the beginning.
